"Why don’t you tell me that ‘If the girl had been worth having, she’d have waited for you?’ No, sir, the girl really worth having won’t wait for anybody." F. Scott Fitzgerald
He left a letter in her room and she still holds that in her heart as one of the most romantic things that anyone ever did for her. His class ring sat on top of thick, heavy paper. His heart - wrapped up in an envelope. His words spoke of joy in knowing her, his love of her hands in his, and the long, lonely months he was about to spend away from her. His pen strokes were bold, graceful, and she could read him in the spaces.
She heard his voice in his words and she could almost feel their tug on her heart. Easily, she slipped into his snare, his words provoking a dormant need in her that had been lost in the last wildfire of love. His words crept into her lungs, squeezing her breath away. They snuck over her neck, goosebumps pebbling in their wake. They swam over her shoulders, begging her in an unhurried way to wait for him. She felt the weight of his need for her in the pages she held. She felt his answer to her questions. She felt his emotional tether cuffing her wrists.
But the thing about her - the most important thing perhaps of all - was the one thing that he missed while falling in love with her. She was impatient. How can you profess your undying love to a girl and then promptly as her to just hold on? Whisper to her to wait. Put your mouth close to the ear of her heart and pray to her - just a few more months.
She put the folded paper back into the torn envelope that had her name lovingly scrawled across the front. She put the letter down and closed the class ring box. She walked away.
Walked away from the goosebumps.
Walked away from the emotionally tethered cuffs.
Walked away from the tug of his words on her heart.
Walked away from the greatest love story she'd ever read.
Because a girl like her? Waits for no one.

I love, love, love flannel sheets and I am really passionate about lists on post it notes and most of the time I'm sad that no one else is as excited as I am about Diet Mountain Dew. I also adore run-on sentences.

anything else in the room.
